Table tennis is a terrific low impact sport that anyone can play and is relatively inexpensive. It's easy to play but takes time to master. It's a great way of meeting new people and is a sport that spans all ages. We currently have over 60s and U15 competing equally in our top division.
The Lowestoft & District Table Tennis League are currently organising some “come and try” sessions in the area.
If you'd like to give it a go or have played previously and are looking to pick up the paddle once more please contact us and we will provide you with details of how to get involved.

Table Tennis Keeps You Young!!
In addition to being terrific cardio & aerobic exercise, a competitive game is great for working up a sweat, getting the heart rate up and at the same time it's easy on the body. An hour playing Table Tennis is the equivalent to a 30 minute power walk and burns about 300 calories.
The sport also keeps your reflexes and balance sharp and provides a great mental workout. There's a lot of thinking, planning and strategizing to keep the grey matter active. It's been said that Table Tennis is Chess played at 100mph, well perhaps not that fast but you get the drift.
It's a sport for life that can be played competitively into your retirement. More often than not the annual Lowestoft Championships are won by Veterans (40+).
Anyone can play
There are no age or gender barriers. In our league it's common for 60 year old veterans to be playing 15 year old juniors on an equal footing, since there is much more to the game than sheer power or strength. It's an easy game to play and the Lowestoft & District League caters for all abilities. We regularly run tournaments where players are given handicaps to give everyone an equal chance of winning. There are plenty of qualified Coaches within the League who are more than happy to help and give advice (free of charge – unlike some other sports).
You don't have to spend a fortune
Compared to popular sports such as Golf or Tennis it's relatively inexpensive to play. The biggest cost is venue hire so it can vary by Team but on average it is between £50-60 per season. That's around £3 a night. There are not many sports you could play for £1 an hour! Equipment is also reasonably priced with a starter bats ranging from £25-50 and the more advanced players would still spend under £100. To get you started you can borrow our club equipment.
Again our Coaches are on hand to give advice on which equipment to buy and can get discounts from some suppliers.
Make New Friends
You'll meet many new friends at the local clubs. It doesn't matter whether you're young or old, big or small, or male or female. Even players with disabilities can successfully compete. It's one of the few sports where children can compete equally against adults. It's your skill that matters.
If you're looking to join a team we can help find one for you. If you are a group friends looking to set a team up we can help find and equip a venue for you.
Table tennis is a wonderful sport to take up for life, at any point in your life. It's easy to play yet difficult to master. You'll always have another challenge to look forward to and you can measure your progress as your handicap reduces and win % increases.
